So today the sun was out, all the snow has melted, and the temperatures got up into the 70s.

Surviving

February 17, 2021

We have power again, and it’s been on long enough that I expect it will stay on.

It’s been an interesting few days, though. Chris and Victoria’s power went out around 6:00 Monday morning, so that evening they came over to stay with us—right about the time our power went out. We had also lost water pressure by then.

So we were without electricity and water: water about noon Monday, and electricity at 5:00 p.m. The electricity came back on for about an hour between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. A bit after noon Chris, Victoria, and Evelyn went to stay at Memaw’s, where they never lost power or water. (The water issue appears to be just Pflugerville, but pretty much all of Pflugerville.) Our electricity came back around 8:20 p.m., then went back off around 11:20, then came back on around 2:20, then went off again around 5:20, and then came back on around 5:50 and has stayed on since.

Still no water, though. Fortunately we have cases and cases of bottled drinking water that we’ve barely made a dent in, and still most of two barrels of water in the garage for other purposes. Now that the power’s back, we’re hoping the city water plant will get working soon.
