Looking Biblical

February 27, 2010

On April 1 and 2, our stake will be putting on the second act of Savior of the World, and I have a part (Cleopas). So I haven’t shaved since Christmas. I’m not quite sure what I think of the hairy, gray person I see in the mirror these days.

(For those of you who know him, Don Wise has a part too—he’s Nathaniel.)

Snow!

February 23, 2010

I know this is nothing for those of you in places like Utah and Maryland, but we actually got snowed on today, and one or two inches accumulated. It’s not going to last—the high tomorrow is supposed to be in the 60’s—but it was fun while it lasted. Since I telecommute on Tuesdays I was already home, but we got the kids out of school a little after noon. The University isn’t opening until 10:00 tomorrow and Seminary was canceled, but NYOS (the kids’ school) is having regular hours.

Torture

I agree almost completely: On being against torture

Talent show

February 9, 2010

A few weeks ago for Family Home Evening we had a lesson about talents, and as a follow up we had a family Talent Show last night. Andrew drew a picture, Jonathan played the piano, David played the Trombone, Amanda read us a silly poem she wrote, Sam showed us some pictures he drew, Chris pointed to his model boats and planes and spaceships, Julia showed us she could rub her tummy & pat her head at the same time, and I recited the White Knight’s poem from Through the Looking Glass.

Comics

February 7, 2010

I saw these links on Daring Fireball earlier this week and I’m finally getting around to posting them here:

Remember Calvin and Hobbes? Bill Watterson gave a rare email interview. It’s not very informative, but at least you know he’s still alive.

Remember Bloom County? Here’s a much longer interview with Berke Breathed.

In other comics news, at the beginning of the year the American-Statesman completely revamped the Sunday comics section, leaving out Prince Valiant. But today, Prince Valiant was back!
